Newbie introducing myself - Great to be here!
Hello to all! I just wanted to introduce myself to all the other blazer/jimmy owners. I just purchased my new 72 k5 blazer about 2 months ago, and found these forums after looking at hundreds of images on google. I've seen a lot of great trucks so far and have been reading lots of build threads. Thank you everyone for posting all this great information about your rigs.
Thanks Again!

Welcome. Great looking Blazer. Is that a "Softtopper" that you have on it? If so, how do you like it. More picks needed of your rig.

Nice looking K5. Welcome to the club. I'd like to get a closer look at that softtopper one these days.

Re: Newbie introducing myself - Great to be here!
Budget being the main factor... I hope to do a lot!
The tires are worn and need to be replaced within the next 3-6 months. I really want to throw some Nitto trail grapplers on but I haven't found them in 15" wheel sizes (which is what I have now) so I might be buying new wheels as well. Unsure if I should go with some classic mickey thompsons or stick with blackout rims. I will eventually doing a brake conversion. I want some new headers (chrome or coated silver). I'm thinking about doing the TPI for gas mileage. If none of the little things take my time/money then eventually want to work on bigger gears for the rear end. Will probably be a long time before everything gets done but slowly but surely I will get to it.

Re: Newbie introducing myself - Great to be here!
I believe I got a great pricel at $6500, but I have dropped another $1800 in so far... PCV valve, plugs, wires, pro comp distributor, rear brake shoes, external regulator for my alternator, speedometer cable, carb adjustment, tuffy radio security console and the softtoper.
Quote:
It is the softtopper, picked it up for around $900 with tax/shipping. It's ok and it definitely shelters from the rain/cold. I don't have a garage to keep it in so I needed the top for sure. Also, it folds up and can be taken completely off (lays down in the bed) very easily. It takes about 5 minutes to take it off and about 10 minutes top to put it on. It's definitely not air/water tight by any means, but deals with 97% of the rain. You can't cruise with the top on and front windows down without getting a headache from the gas/exhaust. But if you roll up the back/sides of the top no exhaust. I don't like the way it looks when it is on, but i would buy it again because of the ease of use/access to convertible without fear of rain. Sure AJs72, I spoke to Blue Thunder (Mario) over the phone and said you guys have met before. So if you have some free time let me know, I would love to see yours as well. Not sure where you are with the unfortunate fire damage but worst case would love to drive where you are to check it out. Also, if everyone gets together count me in as well. I would love to meet up as well.

Looks good! Did you ever figure out anything with the slight overheating issue?

Re: Newbie introducing myself - Great to be here!
I bought a 4x8 sheet of diamond plate aluminum last summer that I hope to turn it to interior covers like yours. Looks great.

Re: Newbie introducing myself - Great to be here!
I haven't had the opportunity to take it to the shop yet. I get paid this Friday so probably take it this weekend.
