kick down switch

where is the kick down switch on a turbo 400. I have a 2 prong wire that goes nowhere. It is just hanging I though that this is the kick down switch. The other side has a line that looks like a vacuum line

Re: kick down switch

I am not sure what year truck you have but here is a pic of the 67-70 kickdown style switch. The 71-72 switch is in the cab attached to the accelerator pedal bracket.

Re: kick down switch

I thought the kick down on a turbo 400 is electronic not manual. On the driver side of the trans is a switch or something with 2 prongs what is this for. I thought this was the kick down switch but I don't no where to hook it up? By the way I have a 1969 C-20

Re: kick down switch

There are two devices in this circuit. The switch that is mounted near the carb or the gas pedal (depending on year) and the solenoid in the transmission. The following article covers the installation in a Pontiac but the circuit will be very similar in your truck.
