hey guys im running stock control arms with bag cups in my 68 right now, my question is, if i got to tobular control arms will the front end sit lower when aired out? thanx in advance

Im in the same boat as you are... Im thinking yes, just from what ive seen on other trucks around.
Here is mine aired out. Obviously not sitting the crossmember on the ground

Now here is a truck belonging to Heymoe.

His does sit on the ground. Unfortunately the tubular arms he has are $1000+... They are Porterbuilt, but I cant get myself to spend $1000 on something I could buy from another good company for alot less. Im not sure if the other tubulars on the market are gonna give you the same results

I actually just found these pics in my collection of ideas, and I notice they arent Porterbuilt arms, and this one appears to be on the ground if not withing an inch of it...

By the way, I dont have anything against PB. They make INCREDIBLE products and their customer service is top notch. In fact Im looking into buying their trailing arms and trailing arm crossmember, its just that I cant get myself to pay $1000+ for something I can get for $650-750. Im a cheap ass. LOL

i think this cross member has been notched (same idea as a dropmember)

I'm in the same boat too. I'm just going to save up for the pb lowers though. The biggest reason is their extra 1/2" drop compared to others, but also because I have 2600 doms for bags. These bags are wide and some lca brand won't work with them. The only other thing I was considering was cupping the lca, but I can't weld myself.

FYI, there's a set of pb control arms for a good deal on the ads forum.

Our control arms at cpp i have setup for airbags and will give you ALOT of addiional ground clearence over stock. They are powdercoated ready to go. If you need a set let me know and i will get you set for a killer price. Let me know.

i just want to know if swaping my stock lowers with cups for your tubular lowers will give me more drop, i dont need to set the cross member on the grount but i do want it a little lower

Our a a-arms are NOT a drop a arm. They will retain factory specs but allow additional ground clearence. Thanks

How can you make this statement?
They attach at the same pivot point as the stock a-arms.
This is the low point of the C10 suspension.

Very simple, take a tape measure and measure the hight of the stamped steel a-arm and then take a take measure and measure the much shorter cylindrical tubing and you will see how this is possible. The tube arm measures 1 1/2 inch and the stock sheetmetal arm measures 2 1/4 so there is about 3/4 of an inch additional ground clearence.

I think it will help if you guys recess your cups on the lca. I have noticed that recessing them 2.5-3 inches will have your lca meet your crossmember when aired out. Just trying to help.

what do u mean by recess the cup? im trying to go just a little lower without buying a drop member.

8" is typical, but if you're running Dom's, you'll need 9". Basically, you should go at least an 1" larger than how wide your bag is so there's no rubbing. Just don't go too deep to where the cup is below the arm. There's a couple good threads on it. Search for "cupping" or "cupped lca" I think.
