look to CPP they have a 71/72 tilt auto for under $400 I believe. Yes it is chinese but it looks alot like the original that will set you back a smidge more than that for rebuild alone.

The stock column will work fine. Just get the overdrive indicator from a vendor on here and replace the one on your column now. You may need to get a locker shift kit so the indicator will show the right gear your in. But you may be able to use your shift linkage you already have with some adjustments.

I've heard that you can modify it for a 4speed automatic/overdrive...but 1st gear is tough or impossible to get to. Can't say for sure and I'm in the same boat...tho I'm considering just going with a floor shifter... for better gear control at the race track, for burnouts mainly.

Re: What steering column to use for 200 or 700 tranny in a 67?

when i switched from my 3-speed i found a auto column in a junk 70 model i think, and i used the lokar cable shift linkage works but i can't get all the gears out of it just P N OD D, i have thought about trying to make my own linkage, i'm installing a lokar floor shifter in my wifes truck and just leaving the 3-speed column in the truck.

I have the Van tilt in my truck with the 700r4 and still have the original indicator (pnr321), and have the colunm adujusted such that overdrive is in 3(indicator), and if I need to go down to 1, the column will allow it, yet indicator will be off. Have had no issues.

Re: What steering column to use for 200 or 700 tranny in a 67?

I may be mistaken but it seems to me this came up in numerous other threads and someone is selling a plate with the OD detent spacing that replaces the original plate on the column. I don't recall the actuall name of the part or who sells it. Anyone have a blowup of an auto column?
