floorpan/rocker gap! - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

P.O Didn’t complete the job as usual! I have this gap on both sides of my floor pan. Any recommendations on how to fix this problem?

I think this is the second thread this week about where the floor pan steps down to meet the rocker at the door seal flange. Is that where you mean? Not a gap,such as where you see light,right? Maybe I'm not understanding but I believe you are talking about where the door seal goes?

I think the only problem you have is you are missing your door sill plates.

Special K you are on the right track! The P.O cut out the “step down” form the floor pan. Original floor pans have the entire rocker panel attached. I’m thinking the easiest way is to just weld a flat piece across the entire stretch to connect the floor pan to the rocker,and then put the sill on top.

The gap I see is for the door seal. Are you referring to the hole next to the dimmer switch? If so you most likely will have some minor kick panel repairs as well. Nothing major though.

Believe it or not that gap is supposed to be there. Like others have said the door seal rubber fits down in there. Also the fuel gauge and dome light wires run through it...

The reason I asked if you looked at any other trucks is because that picture shows the rocker/floor area to look mostly like it should.

no no.. Im pretty sure it supposed to have ducttape with resin over the top of everything... Atleast you didnt have my PO..
