New Guy

Hi all, I have been lurking the forums for a few weeks now. I have been through the entire picture thread and read up a bit on other subjects. I started my project at 16.5, and had to put a hold on it when I left for college.

It doesn't look quite like it does now in the pictures below, but not too far off. I had different plans for it then than I do now almost ten years later. It is a 1972 Frame, 67 front clip and iirc 70 Cab. It has factory air, disc breaks, power steering and most of the other factory goodies.

I have already dropped it 2/4 with the ECE kit, bought the engine previously rebuilt, and have some add ons ready to go including some repro corvette seats.

I recently got married and bought a house built in the 50s and the garage left a LOT to be desired. So much so though I wasn't comfortable bringing the truck down from my Dad's shop. I was recently hanging out and a Cobra club happened to be meeting at the same place as I was eating my BBQ. That gave me the bug so much so that I am framing out the interior of my garage with a false interior and new rafters so that it is more secure and can suit my needs.

I am hoping to have my dad load it up and haul it down within 2 months max. I am going crazy thinking about getting back to work. I already picked up a new compressor and started restocking the tools (My dad and I co-oped a bunch of our stuff, and I lost a bunch in a theft). Next up is a new welder and then it is time to get back to it.

Anyways that is my story, and then some. Glad to be (close to) back at it. I am looking forward to the input and help of the board.

I think this will be OK. It would make it official if we had some pictures though....(you probably knew that was coming)

Re: New Guy

Thanks guys I am waiting on my parents to send some more recent/ cleaned up pictures of e truck all in one piece.

Since this picture I have mounted the underbed tank, mounted the tranny and fired up the engine for the first time.

I also finished painting the interior but now think I will be redoing it all so it will match the body. Currently the interior is a dark graphite with a metal flake, I plan to use a really dark blue for the body. I have gray leather seats and then black interior parts(dash pad, visors, etc).

I also plan to ditch the rear roll plan and go with a chrome bumper front and rear instead of painted to match. I also already scrapped plans for shaved handles and mirrors. I was going to go for totally smooth, trick truck. Now I want it to be more of a "rod-storation" I plan to drive and use it as a truck, it will just be a beautiful, fast, fun truck. I also hope to change out for a more period wheel set like a torq thrust ii instead of those blingy five spokes.

It is funny how your tastes change as you morph from adolescent to young adult.

Re: New Guy

I didnt see a rear pan on yours. Im probably not going with a pan either, but I want to find a bumper that shows off that bottom line of the bedside from the side view. Most bumpers wrap around and cover it up, what do you think?

Honestly now I prefer the plain ole stock chevy bumper. I think it looks best and given that I plan to use the truck it will be nice to have the protection. I never tacked in the pan as I need to do some more floor repairs and to get the bed squared up perfectly. Hopefully someone local will want it.
