Ever sold a truck and regretted it?

Any of you guys ever had to sell a truck and regretted it every day? I love my 67-72's, but my heart will always be with my 86 GMC squarebody!! I had so many plans. It had a 454, a tci trans and just a static 4/6 drop. That truck was my baby. I had to sell due to relocation. If I ever get the chance, I will build another. Right now I have a 1969 chevy c-10 I am building with all porterbuilt components. I have flirted with the idea of selling, but I get cold feet.

Re: Ever sold a truck and regretted it?

Yes, in 1986 I sold my first new vehicle, ( baby on the way kinda deal)an 85 GMC Sierra Classic SWB I ordered brand new the year before, it was Midnight Blue and fully loaded...as loaded as they came then without 4wd that is. I stinking loved that truck. I too will buy another, I have seen a few close but not what I want yet....yet!

Re: Ever sold a truck and regretted it?

The reason I am still hung up on that truck was I could go to any pull a part and buy parts for chump change compared to the parts for 67-72 trucks. they are getting harder to find or they are very expensive.

Re: Ever sold a truck and regretted it?

I didn't buy one back from the insurance company and regret it.It was an 87 GMC, wasn't anything special, but I sure could have used the TBI305 and 700R when I rebuild my 82 Chevy.

I also didn't buy one and regret it. 1977 or 1978 C10 shortbed with buckets, tach dash, sport mirrors and sport bumpers for $1200. A bit of work and nice stock rallies would have made for a clean factory sport truck.

Re: Ever sold a truck and regretted it?

Sold it, regretted, no. I had to sell both of my toys (86 C10 and 78 Camper Special) when the economy went bad. I retired and my sons lost their jobs so I sold both. I was happy I could help keep their family's in their homes, some day I'll get another truck perhaps a k5 4x4.

Yes!

'67 C-10, 396, Camaro subframe, 4" chop top. Rode like a Cadillac and handled like a, well, Camaro. Rust free and straight as an arrow.

I'm going out in the garage to cry a while...............

Re: Ever sold a truck and regretted it?

I can think of 2 that I regretted...

1) 1984 GMC Sierra. Plain LWB, inline 6, th350, poverty dish caps, real bare bones model, BUT, it was as rust-free as I'd ever seen back when I lived in new england - everything on it was un-rusted from cab corners to underside bed supports. Bought it off a dealer lot that was closing down, they had it parked to block the entrance so I asked and got lucky.

2) 1984 C10 Custom Deluxe. Rubber floor mats, radio delete, had idiot light gauge cluster. Was an old farm truck that the 250 was swapped for a 292. Probably the one I miss most, had the oddest pinhole in the floor (floors rusted under the rubber from top down, not outside up) and when you hit a puddle driving in summer rain would shoot a tiny stream of water straight up at you like a squirtgun...

Re: Ever sold a truck and regretted it?

I was in college and picked up a running but a little rough 56 ford f1 that someone in the 70s had swapped in a 1956 354 chrysler hemi and push button torqueflite. I had it for about a year and started fixing things here and there to get it back on the road when my girlfriend (now wife) was is desperate need of tuition money to stay in school. I made a lot of money on the truck but still miss it.

Re: Ever sold a truck and regretted it?

I refuse to sell anything and have now acquired a collection of square bodies. Six 80's short fleets, and one 62 short fleet. I can't stop buying the little buggars, they are as cheap right now as they are ever gonna be so I'm just stockpiling parts. I bought an entire short bed, 4 - 15" American racing smooth aluminum rims with good 245 tires, and a set of Bell Tech 2 1/2 inch dropped spindles for $350 last week. You can't go wrong... providing you have space to store them. Unfortunately I'm pretty full and the wife says no more!

Re: Ever sold a truck and regretted it?

I had an '89 4X4 S-10 Blaxer that my dad and I fixed up (paint, tires, stereo) when I was in high school. A few years later when I was in the Army, I blew the motor up while being a jack--- on the highway. I sold that truck for $700 bucks so I could get a '95 Nissan Altima. I hated that car. The guy I sold it to had the motor replaced and sold it to a Sergeant Major. I saw it one day driving on post and followed it. I was so sick. I still regret selling that truck.

Your right. I know that I would do it again if I had to, she now makes about double what I do and has no problems letting me build up new projects.

Couples that work (at their relationships) together stay together!

I was shooting the bull with a neighbor kid a few days ago. Told him the first time he sits down with his kid to help with homework, he'll wish he'd went to college. LOL

Re: Ever sold a truck and regretted it?

The truck had 18x8 in the front and 20x10 in the rear. I love the raked look. To me, it reminds me of when I grew up in the 80's and my dad had the front low and rear high with cragars on his torino and his camaro.

Re: Ever sold a truck and regretted it?

I do. I sold this 1987 K20 about 1 year ago for something more comfortable to drive on the highway and more economical. I didn't like the bench seat, thought it really needed overdrive and didn't like the stiff 3/4 ton suspension or how the clutch was kind of hard to push in.

Now If I could do it again, I'm not sure if I would have sold it. The truck was so solid and cool and I loved driving the 4-speed. You just can't find one the rust free up here that isnt jacked up on 42" tires and modded in some crazy fashion. Anyways I bought that truck for 2300 and sold it for 4000 so overall I think I did the right thing. But if someone took all of the creature comforts of my '96 away and gave me that '87 back to drive, for some reason I'd be excited.

I regret selling my 81 K5 2WD Blaazer with the silverado package. I am just about ready to pull the trigger on another 81 K5 2WD Blazer here shortly. I was running low on funds back then, I fixed that problem now...

Does trading count? If so, I do miss this truck & knew I would. It was (and still is) a great truck!
