Drip rail needs to be replaced...any suggestions?

Ok...the drip rail on my 69 C/10 SWB is rusted and will require to be removed and replaced. I checked LMC site, but is the SS Drip Molding Set the kit needed to replaced the current one (welded sheet metal drip rail) or it's a dress up item?? The kit cost $120, or I can pay $500 ish to have the top cut and replaced. Also, my interior kick panel (heater area on both sides) is rusted), any way to fix this? I also see @ LMC that they offer a Kick panel set, but is it only a dress up or an actual weld sheet metal kit?? Any suggestions???

The kit you speak of is a "dress-up" item. Since you live in the LBC (SoCal) I would just get another cab. You will pay far more in repair costs than you will for a nice rust free cab.

Ouch! That looks pretty bad, I agree you would be money ahead to grab a different cab. Around Cali they are plentiful, and pretty cheap (compared to the labor/parts involved in repair)

Being that you are in CA it would be wise to look for another rust free cab or at the very least go with the whole roof. If your drip rails are rusted that bad you most likely will need a new roof skin as well (kinda looks that way from the pics)

Re: Drip rail needs to be replaced...any suggestions?

Im in San Diego and my truck was rusted out on the bottom half but the roof was PERFECT.... So I cut the roof off about 5 inches below the roof line and trashed the cab.... Its just sitting in my shed... If you need it PM me.... I was gonna take it to Pamona this weekend but unfortunately I cant go....

Re: Drip rail needs to be replaced...any suggestions?

Its more than the drip rail i can tell you that, look at the roof seem from the rear of the door, totally rusted. I'll almost guarentee you that the inner roof line and windshield area are in pretty bad shape as well.

My vote, new cab or a whole roof replacement depending the shape of the rest of the cab, problem is you can't see the cowel area without dissasembly of the cab.

Looks like you would be better off in the long run to replace the cab or find another roof..... it would be next to impossible to get all that rust out of the seems.....it will come back... replacing the roof wouldnt be much more work, i would say it will be less work.. just my thoughts.
