bead breakers:
1) Are these types of bead breakers good?
http://www.gemplers.com/product/1458...Breaker-Manual 2) Need further/additional guidance/recommendations regarding bead breakers; i have the harbor freight bead breaker with the lever. First of all, i can't recommend it---i don't think it's well-built. It's working ok for smaller car tires, but i can't break the bead on larger, car+ truck tires----hence my asking about suggestions for a decent bead breaker. ALERT/UPDATE:
Ok, i was able to break the bead on a 235/75 15 tire--- i didn't have my leverage settings right. However, i still stand by my assertion that the product really isn't high quality. Maybe if you could weld up some extra support gussets/braces etc. it might be ok. |

I tried a few of those cheapo breakers over the years and none worked well or lasted very long. I found a picture of a slide hammer breaker like this;
 And built this one from scraps laying around the shop, Haven't ran across a tire yet from trucks to ATV's it hasn't popped loose.

I've had my bead breaker for 40 years. AKA a jack-all. Any bumper on a heavy vehicle helps.

i run em over or lift up the vehicle and drop it on the tire.
