First my taiwan inners dont fit for crap. I can't get my doors to close properly. My gas tank is rusting (after I had it "cleaned" out) and now the stupid little ignition bezel doesn't screw onto the ignition switch properly. It looks as if the threads on the bezel were drilled at a slight angle and when I go to thread it onto the ignition switch it won't thread properly...I've tried changing the ignition swith but that doesn't help. You can visibly see the bezel screwing on wobbly. I hate this!! These little things are getting on my nerves!!! I cant wait to get this project over with.....

I feel for ya, there is no substitute for the real thing. I had some ill-fitting cab corners to install a few years back. Had to do a little pre-fabricating before they went in properly.

Seeing how you live fairly close, maybe you would like to pop on over to the Island sometime, you can meet a buddy of mine (also a member = Spoof). I know a few places where there are 67-72's ripe for the picking. But...shhhhh...don't tell anyone!

My tubs didnt fit either Pissed me right off ! I have 20 hours in the drivers side alone. The pass side fit better. Mario

I particularly have had nothing but crap from LMC, so stay away from them. I've had decent luck and excellent prices from Rick's in AZ. One piece glass (BROTHERS) is on and looks great, but doesn't function like stock, and NO I wouldn't do it again or recommend it for next time. I've been messing with old cars for years now, and it seems as if the repro parts 10 years ago used to be of better quality. I used to wrench on 63-64 Impalas in the past, and I always remember the repro parts back then were always like NOS it seemed.

I got a new right front fender and both inners from Carolina Classics and they seem to fit pretty good. I will have to fix a couple dings and a little stamping crinkles on the fender but the overall fit is good it seems.

I just ordered the new replacement fenders from gmc pauls for my 72. I will let you know how they fit and look. Better be nice the shipping involved. lash

I could not agree with you more on the aftermarket stuff made overseas, I ordered a chrome interior dome light (new) and it looks like a piece of JUNK!!! I'm not even going to bother putting it my truck (waste of time and money) I think it's worth hunting down OEM, NOS, or reproduced parts in the U.S. only. Hang in there on your resto, I get in the "wrench throughing mode" now and then too. (lol) Later Doug

It is a tough gig between old beat original parts vs new repro parts that don't meet the GM standards. When you can't find nice original parts, you have to make the new stuff work. We are still lucky to have so much of it available at such reasonable prices. Some of the guys around here just howl when I charge more for good original parts, then I do for new repro. Of course you know which ones they want---original. Here is a label that I sometimes put on the repro parts. Oops. It won't load. Wrong fromat.

67CST, nah, shortfleets are rare as hen's teeth around here. And if you were to find one in the boneyard its a good chance that it belongs there, lol. But one of the guys I know usually has at least half a dozen 67-72's laying around. I'll have to drive out and have a looksee sometime this month. Still need some 5-lug rear axles, hopefully w/ whitespoke rims attached.

I've had bad luck with repro stuff in the past too, but Mothers assures me the newer stuff is better than years ago. The rockers I got from him are excellent. I'll let you know on the other stuff later. (on a side note; you learn more by getting crappy stuff to fit. Any wannabe can just bolt or rivet stuff on).

I'll go across the grain and say that I had good luck with the repro parts I used:

Taiwan inner fenders
radiator support
front grill surround
headlight bezels
Tabco rockers and cab corners as well as 1 taiwan cab corner
taiwan floor pan and floor brace
front bed panel
front/rear chrome bumpers
rear bumper brackets

All the above was an easy install with no problems although there is a certain uneasy feeling about installing Made in Taiwan parts on my made in U.S.A. truck.

But...when you need parts, you need parts.
