My gas tank leaks when I fill it full. I'm not sure if I need a new gasket or what so was hoping someone could help me. It leaks where the tube goes into the sending unit hole. Hope that makes sense? The tube that runs the height of the tank and then through the floor. Is there a gasket to reseal in up or what? If I need to take a picture I can tomorrow. Thanks for the help.

Is it leaking around the tube or is it leaking from the "O" ring that seals the sending unit to the tank?

i'd remove the sending unint clean both areas really good install with a new Oring/// this is best done when the gastank is near empty

It's probably leaking around the outlet tube. I had the same thing with one of my trucks... I thought it was a gasket but, after looking at it more closely, found there were little cracks in the welds around the tube. Get a new gasket and sending unit and replace them both. That what I did and never had another problem with it.

It's leaking around the outlet tube, not the sending unit. Guess I'll see how much a new sending unit is.

Are you talking about the fuel line that comes out of the tank? If so, check real closely where it is welded... That is where I had my problem. I initially thought it was a gasket but when I took the sending unit out, the gasket was fine. When you're taking it out, make sure you use a brass punch to get the collar off... They won't create any spark which could be a bad thing around your gas tank.

Sending units run about $30-$40. Check the local vendor site or google it.

Also, when removing and reinstalling the sending, use a brass drift. Harbor freight or local auto parts will carry them.
