I drove Reggie Jackson's '68 C10 yesterday

After driving Reggie's '68 yesterday I'm here to tell you guys that not only the mileage is original, but the truck is the nicest driving '67-72 C10 I've ever driven!

Jim Aust: You wondered about the radio? Its out to replace the speaker cone.

The chrome hubcaps are listed on the spid. The power steering was added by Reggie with all original parts. A good call, I'd say.

I'm writing a '67-72 C10 Spotter's Guide for the April issue of Custom Classic Trucks. There's a lot I don't know about these trucks, I'll be on here a bunch in the next couple of weeks asking for help, I'm sure.

CLEAN! That's original paint or repaint?

Spotter's Guide? Guess they couldn't run another bed wood install or how-to replace cab steps and corners that month?

Now if it had belonged to Carl Yastrzemski, I'd be all over it!

Nice to see a really sweet untouched 68. I'd say it looks like the real deal to me.

Original, original, original. This truck has to be seen to be believed.

The Spotter's Guide was my idea. Now that I'm semi-retired I'm getting a chance to do all of the things I didn't have time for when I was the editor.

Just for you Jim, I'm going to do a bed wood story on my '68 longbed. I've got a 4x8 sheet of plywood, and maybe I'll hit Al's Liner up for some editorial consideration. You know there's been a lot of bed wood stories done, but I'll bet this would be the first one showing how to drop a 4x8 sheet of plywood in.

I joke with you John because a Spotter's Guide, Bed Wood and Cab Steps were always the sign the Editor's seat had just been filled again. I've been reading
ALL the truck mags since the early '80s so I've seen my share of each!

Yeah, I'm real lucky. I couldn't believe it when they handed me the keys, and said drive it to where ever I needed to take pictures.

Yes- sadly yes! That was our "competition" while I was at Sport Truck so had to see what those guys were doing. Wasn't pretty!

It wasn't pretty what Tailgate did to the other truck magazines on the newsstand. It wasn't until I got my job at Primedia on Hot Rod Bikes with access to the dashboard (numbers) that I learned Tailgate went from zero-to-number two on the newsstand in 18 months, second only to Truckin'.

Just as a trivial fact: Truckin' has always been the monster with bigger numbers than all of the other truck magazines put together.

Tailgate, geez do they still print that rag? I bought one ONE TIME and my wife almost shortened my driveshaft for it! I dunno, for some reason when I look at truck mags I want to see trucks, not skin distractions.

BTW - I buy just about every truck/musclecar mag I can find every month. I envy you, John and Jim, for getting to do my dream job.

I know you're out of it now Jim. At least you got a few seasons in the big leagues... I would take a cowboy boot groin kick for that opportunity. (That isn't an offer!)

I don't think the guy on the bike is burnin' gas, but he looks like he has gas that would burn the bicycle seat!

I know how fond you magazine guys are of roach-coach burritos and chili dogs!
