Fleetside wood bed floor, or steel?
Anyone know the story on Fleetside bed floors? I'm guessing wood was standard, but I've never noticed steel listed on the spid as an option. My '68 GMC has wood, and Reggie's '68 Chevy is steel. Were GMCs more likely to come with a wood bed, or not?
I've seen wood floors in as late as '71, I think might have also seen a wood floor in a '72. I can't trust my memory. It might be time to give my friend Bruce Horkey a call. |

Steel is standard- wood is an option (Fleetsides). Except for the Longhorns that came with WOOD ONLY.

See, I told you guys I didn't know much about these trucks. But the more I learn the more I like 'em.
No Cost option, bingo! Thank you. The spid on my '68 must have washed off way back when the president still came from Georgia, and had a brother prone to public urination. |

Yeah, and it smelled like Billy Beer. '67 was the first year for steel bed floors and that was the standard. The wood floor option on Fleetsides and Widesides continued well into the '70s,if not the '80s. The latest one I am aware of is '78,which was in a Dooley I had.

Re: Fleetside wood bed floor, or steel?
the wood floor was in stepsides till 88 when they went to the sprtside, no steel floors were ever offered in the stepsides... I would assume (and that's all it is, an assumption) that the wood was optional in fleetsides till the end of the 87 body style, and possibly later in the one tons which ran that square body till 91 or so.
