68 camaro headers on my 66 stepside
I'm in the process of installing a 350ci bored .030. And the heads and cam like bigger tube headers.
I have some new 1968 camaro Headman Hustler headers 1-3/4 tubes. with 3" collector. My truck is lowered by the jeep coils in rear and cut coils in front. So I dont think ground clearance is a issue. Also Im running a Saginaw 3speed with overdrive. Any of you guys know if this will work?

Re: 68 camaro headers on my 66 stepside
I run a set of summit LT's from a 67-81 camaro with my automatic and had to trim about 1/2" off the pass side rail to clear the header tube. On a stick truck I dont know how they will play with the linkage. Mine are 1 5/8 tube also.

Re: 68 camaro headers on my 66 stepside
It should work and not hang below the frame much

Re: 68 camaro headers on my 66 stepside
You will likely have clutch linkage and bellhousing crossmember interference.

Re: 68 camaro headers on my 66 stepside
When I installed long tube headers on my 64 with a 3spd I had trouble with the clutch linkage not fitting. I had to rotate the z-bar back(towards the front of the truck) a ways to clear the last primary and make a new rod from the pedal down to the z-bar. if you go this way just remember to leave adjustment in the rod to fine tune your pedal to clutch travel. When you change the rotation of the z-bar it changes how much it pushes on the clutch fork. If not done correctly you end either with short pedal travel and possible slipping clutch or not enough travel to disengage the clutch completely.
