Almost bought an Ebay 67'

Hi all -

I'm new to the forum but I have had C10 fever for awhile and am searching pretty heavily for a 67-72 SWB.

This morning I nearly won an ebay auction on a 67, I wasn't upset about missing it and frankly I was surprised at how low it went for. The low bid almost scared me away more than anything else.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...NA:MOTORS:1123

Despite being chopped from LB to SB and having 68 fenders as well as primered rear I thought it went low. I also was sketched about the lack of detailed pics of the rockers and corners along with the sellers mention of rust in the fenders, still, I think I missed something here.

Were the above mentioned issues enough to keep the winning bid at 4150?
Any other sage advice from the forum on other things I should worry about when looking online?

With a cut down longbed, you would almost have to actually see the kind of work done. I'm not scared of cutdowns, provided they are done well.

Welcome to the boards. I have a brother in eagle river...
As far as the truck goes, doesn't seem that cheap to me. You don't know the quality of the work, claims it as a 67 (sure looks like a 68 to me) Says it has a little rust, needs paint, No A/C which would be a selling point down south, missing bumper bolts. etc...
I think it went for plenty. (my opinion)
Eric

Re: Almost bought an Ebay 67'

Nice catch on the missing bumper bolts Eric. Those details are exactly why I posted this, another thing for me to watch for. Did every 67 cab have a small window and is that a definitive indication of a non-67? Any ideas on why/how this guy apparently had the year wrong? 67 frame w/68 cab and fender replacement? Doesn't seem like he gains much with a deception between 67/68.

The lack of AC for me is great, helps lower the cost and it isn't needed in AK. The heater is another story though. Any other comments are mucho appreciated.

not every 67 had a small window you could get a panoramic cab which is the sexier way of saying big window
