Re: NOS Chevy Truck New trailer Hitch
my 72 burb c20 had a decent 4000lb frame mounted drawbar type hitch on it when i bought it 2 years ago. last year i swapped that out for a Curt 15,000lb rated class iv 2x2 receiver hitch because i plan to haul a 6,000lb '71 holiday and may tow even bigger stuff down the road when i get my 406sbc swapped in. only thing i need to do to my hitch is have the side hangers modified to fit the frame as the burb frame curls down at the bumper and i want the receiver and cross tube to be tucked up under the bumper/license plate.

Re: NOS Chevy Truck New trailer Hitch
Since when are unused Western Auto gadgets worth big money? What makes it Chevy? Looks universal to me. I think it was intended for Rambler station wagons.

Re: NOS Chevy Truck New trailer Hitch
Also would NOS apply? I guess it might be NOS but not GM NOS.

Re: NOS Chevy Truck New trailer Hitch
Opinions on that vary. Most seem to feel N.O.S. only applies to factory parts. I feel that's just the conclusion we are used to jumping to because that has always been all we were concerned with. N.O.S. is new old stock in my book and GM N.O.S. is General Motors new old stock. Since some parts have been reproduced for several years, and even some put out of production, there is another term known as N.O.R.S..."R" for reproduction. But,take this hitch,it's not a reproduction and it is just as old and no longer available as any GM part from the same time. But,that doesn't necessarily make it all valuable. Yet, vintage parts like Ventshades or those 1/2 moon bedside steps which are not GM parts (some are packaged as GM accessories) are being called N.O.S. (with or w/o GM packaging) and sold for many times the original cost.I used to buy those bed steps for $10. I'd get them from Dick Cepek. You find old stock arts from Hickey or other speed equipment companies it can go like gold. I consider that N.O.S. N.O.S. doesn't mean expensive, that depends on what it is. I have some N.O.S. bolts in GM packages that are no different than what you could get at Ace Hardware. Are they valuable. A lot of the time the GM parts book would just give the specs on hardware and refer you to local supply (corner hardware store)
