The Biggest POS 67-72 I've Ever Owned...
Well this is one of the biggest POS 67-72 Trucks I've ever owned. It started out as a "Free" truck I found on craigslist I drove about 300 miles to Glennallen, Alaska in the winter to go retrieve it.... I thought it might have a door passenger door/fender. This is what I found:
Exterior after I got it home: Interior after I cleaned out some of the junk: Once I got it home I proceeded to open the hood and find out just what old nasty engine was under it. What I found was a 307 with a 4 barrel qjet. Oh ya, I figured it couldn't be too messed up, so I dropped a battery in jumped the started and click... click. click, locked solid looked underneath and there was a giant hole though the side of the oil pan. So the 307 was toasted. .....continued

Re: The Biggest POS 67-72 I've Ever Owned...
So After discovering the motor was blown, side of the truck was sideswiped which was the side I wanted the fender and door from I decided I would be best of to clean it up, drop a motor in and see what I could do with it. So I placed a craigslist ad for wanted "Small Block Chevy for Cheap" no replys for a week then all of the sudden I get a call and a guy has a perfect running late model TBI 305 complete for free. So I jump in my ss and go grab it. Cleaned it up, painted it found a better intake manifold, rebuilt the qjet, found a new alternator since it was missing, air filter, oil, pressure washed the crap out of the engine bay, and dropped it in.
After pressure washing the intior and removing the rod bearings from the dash, this was the result: Then I found an old 70 grill in the backyard that had some damage so I bondoed the grill and painted it silver. Then I removed someones hacky primer off of the rear bed sides by using easy off. This was the final result of the truck: Turns out the cab on the truck really wasn't had the cab supports wheren't rusted out even and it appears from all of the reciets inside that it had been all over the US and then driven up here to Alaska its final resting place.

Re: The Biggest POS 67-72 I've Ever Owned...
The final result of the truck really wasn't too bad other than it was missing the tail gate and needed body work. The most expensive part of the rebuild was replacing litterly every part of the brake system, drums, shoes, wheel cylinders, hoses, spring kits, ect.

Re: The Biggest POS 67-72 I've Ever Owned...
Haha I know, that was the funny part! It didn't even drive to bad I drove it a number of times pretty funny to drive around in, but I ended up selling it last summer after I got it back on the road.

Re: The Biggest POS 67-72 I've Ever Owned...
Yours came out much better than mine.
Sadly mine didn't survive. That was a perfect windshield till the wrecker guy hauled the truck out of the woods. Split it riight in 2.

Re: The Biggest POS 67-72 I've Ever Owned...
Matthew, you can do some good work - and that is fortunate given the kind of beat-up stuff you take home. I am impressed by your patience and effort in saving and using a couple of these old, tough trucks - keep 'em going. Good for you. That first one seems to have some history - from West Virginia to Elmendorf (probably driven up the ALCan by an AF enlisted man - my brother may have ridden in that truck up there) and never taken back down to the lower 48. After a while, maybe left to die. Way to go.
