Inline 6 Air Conditioning Brackets??

I'm trying to track down what brackets I would need. I'm needing to mount up a Sanden compressor to work with my Vintage Air system and the only ones VA sell are for a drivers side mount. That won't work cause I have power steering, I need a passenger side mount. I found someone selling the original 60's inline a/c bracket but will that bolt up a new style compressor? Do I have no other option then to use the old style compressor?? Ideas?? Options??????

Someone makes them for passenger side, cause I have one...I bought it used. I assumed it was from Vintage Air...every Sanden compressor I have seen on a L6 was mounted on the passenger side like you want to do.

Really? This is the only bracket I can find from Vintage Air for a inline 230 and it says Drivers side... typo?? It sucks they only have a stock photo for it.

Re: Inline 6 Air Conditioning Brackets??

Ok, which Inline 6 are you running?

check the VA catalog again, page 64. There are actually several Inline 6brackets listed. The one that is pictured with compressor on the drivers side is for the 235-261.

The ones for the 230-250-292 are #15249 and 15250-VCB, and you know it is for the passenger side because it warns you that one is for points distributor and one is for later years with HEI .

Hope this helps

Re: Inline 6 Air Conditioning Brackets??

According to their catalog, and I quote them, that would be bracket: "15249-VCB All 6 cyl.1963-84 Compressor bracket
For points distributor -will not fit H.E.I."

I would contact their helpline, or pm "coolair" on this board, who is the tech guy for VA.

Re: Inline 6 Air Conditioning Brackets??

The old style knee freezers set up is on the drivers side in a 65 biscayne down the road, (Have been trying to buy set-up) and its brackets are quite simple, unlike those in the va catalog. I don't like to think that I would have to add all the extra brackets, makes engine compartment more like today's cars. mho.

Re: Inline 6 Air Conditioning Brackets??

Found this old thread, but here's one at Old Air Products - part number 40-150 fits passenger side w/power steering. No notes about which distibutor. Used the small aftermarket compressors.
