Please Help !

I have the chance to get a 68 un-bored 327 block . I have a set of nice 80-ish 350 heads . I need to know if the heads will match up to the block , and if so , what are the pros and cons ? Do I need to get anything special or just find some 327 heads ? Thanks for any and all advice .

Re: Please Help !

here is a Thread that may help out on this. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=198049

I do know my 383 stroker has 327 fuelie heads on it. Just may need to be worked at a machine shop but I am not totally sure.

Re: Please Help !

They will work fine. The 327 has the same 4" bore as the 350. The difference is in the stroke(3.25" in a 327, 3.48" in a 350). The 350 heads are probably a 76cc chamber head, which will yield a lower compression on the 327(depending on pistons you use). The only advice I have is depending on what you want from the engine? If you just want a nice driver, then use the 350 heads you have. If you want a high revving screamer engine, look into buying some aftermarket or at least some Vortec heads. Those 80's casting heads aren't known for their performance.

Re: Please Help !

I've built a number of motors both when I was a mechanic and as an enthusiast. They will work fine, but ask yourself what you want to achieve from the motor. Since it's a 327, you are obviously going to be investing a lot into machining and bottow end. Topping it with the poorly flowing 350 heads from the 80s will basically limit the motor to a nice driver. If that is your goal, then no further information needed. If you want a performance engine, then you need to step up to better heads.
