Craigslist truck

One of my friends sent me a picture he had taken of a craigslist ad and wanted to know what I thought. To me it looks good, a very good deal. What do you think? Heres what he sent.

Re: Craigslist truck

now that is a steal. I would agree with superchevy and ksjh1316. I think I would already be in it driving down the road at that price.

Re: Craigslist truck

I agree, looks good... just make sure you take a few breaths and go through the normal routine of checking everything you can. It's easy to get excited and miss some issues, good luck!

Re: Craigslist truck

Gave him a call. He's an older gentleman who bought it to restore and found he wasn't up to the task. It's got a goodwrench crate 350 in it. A/C doesn't work, heat does work, the radio and ALL of the gauges are shot. He said if you throw it in reverse before the trans heats up it acts strange? It's got a vinyl bench seat, dual flowmasters and some rust.

Well? Does it still sound like a good deal?

Re: Craigslist truck

It depends on how much work you can do yourself. If you buy one like that & start taking it to different places to get repairs you will wind up upside down with a giant headache. You know the trans. will need o-haul.

Re: Craigslist truck

Ehh, I've begun to have second thoughts about this. Damn, I was excited too. Do you guys think I could resell it after a little while?

Re: Craigslist truck

Might still be a good deal, especially if its pretty original and not hacked together. Maybe get a pic of the SPID and verify some things. Everyones definition of rust is different. Most of the trucks with AC don't work either unless its been fixed and you can buy used gauge clusters for less than $75 so these items not a big deal but the tranny is, course you can buy a workng tranny for $500 or less.

i wouldn't buy this truck just to resell since it does need some work.
