Re: how good are 3 inch drop springs
Most 73-87 drop spindles are 2.5" or 3" drop.

Re: how good are 3 inch drop springs
thats what my truck had, I daily drove mine and the lower control arms and trans mission cross member are all beat up from scrapping the ground and was really ruff ridding on any road that wasn't completely smooth, also the coil springs would move around when you would jack up the front of the truck and was nearly impossible to keep the front end aligned

Re: how good are 3 inch drop springs
so buy the 2.5 or 3 inch spindles and buy 1 inch or 2 inch coils then if it's too low with 3 inch springs.

Re: how good are 3 inch drop springs
if you want a low drop, you're best to get the most drop possible with the spindles first, nothing changes with the front end alignment. if you want go lower still, do the springs, but the alignment gets messed up the lower you go.

Re: how good are 3 inch drop springs
Your not going to like the 3" spring. As mentioned het as much drop as you can from spindles.

The toe will be way off. I always get a front end alignment,... even if they drive perfect after the suspension drop is complete.

Re: how good are 3 inch drop springs
good point it would shorten the tie rod ends moving the wheels up and make them toe in, but however I thought the tie rod mount location stayed the same of moved making the tie rods stay in the same place, with spindles?

Re: how good are 3 inch drop springs

To keep the arm from contacting the wheel,... the spindle manufacturer "tweaks" the arm inward, in their design. This allows the front end to "toe out" slightly, (with the original tie rod adjustment). Thus the need for an alignment.
