Bowtie Overdrives

Has anyone had any experiences with this company? I'm looking to buy a 700r for my truck, and am considering their level 2 pkg.

Re: Bowtie Overdrives

if they are the guys in Hesperia, CA - I have dealt with them a LITTLE bit, didn't buy a trans from them, but only because I sold the car first. I used to live close by (and will be again soon) - and if I were gonna buy a 700R4, I'd probably go with them. The little bit of dealings I had with them was that they were helpful and responsive. And they can install and set up and check the pressure, etc etc. Hesperia is only about 2 hrs from you if I'm not mistaken (if you're not gonna do the work - I'd take it to them). If you plan to do your own work, then I'd probably go with the least expensive 700R4 with the options you want on it AND with a decent warranty(and they may be the best price out there - I do not know).
Good luck, look fwd to seeing the install!

Oops- belay my last, don't know how far they are from you, I was thinkin vegas... sorry. Hesperia is about 1.5-2 hrs sw of vegas in the CA desert.

Re: Bowtie Overdrives

I have heard good things as far as customer service, Classic trucks had a write up about them last year or maybe 2009 when they needed help with adj the TV cable and pressure.

Re: Bowtie Overdrives

I installed a Bow tie Overdrives 200-4R in my Chevelle several years ago. I beat on it pretty hard on the dragstrip, low 13/s at over 100mph in the 1/4 mile with a 350 CI engine, as well as lots of street and highway driving. Never had a problem with it.

I eventually removed it in favor of a TH400 when I upgraded to a big block motor, but I still have the tranny in case it's needed for a future project.

Re: Bowtie Overdrives

Im planning on putting a 700r4 in my 66 to replace the 400. I'm curious to see if this will increase MPG's? Has the original Eaton rear. Anyone know?

If most of your driving is highway, yes it will. What diff gears do you have? Remember to match the speedometer gear in the trans to match what you have. I once put a 200R4 in a 70 Chevelle I had with 3.23 gears and loved it. 2200 RPM @ 70 MPH was easy to get used to.
