265 motor oil filter need some help PLEASE!!!!!!

can some body send me a pic of where the oil filter goes on the motor and how do i run the oil line any thing would help thanx 265 motor.

There are some photos here that show the filter setup on a car with a 265 but I don't know if they are right for a truck.

this should help. The filter mounts to the manifold, lines come from the block. I think the line closest to the radiator goes to the bottom of the cannister, other to the side.

You confused me. The 265 is a V-8.

It is same basic idea, filter mounts to engine, oil supply to filter is a tee from oil pressure sending switch (next to distributer) and oil return to an access drilled into intake manifold (in low section between runners) check the car photos in a previous response. Pressure in at top, return from bottom. IIRC oil filter was dealer add on option until '57 or '58 when GM went to cannister. Good Luck!!

I was looking at this again and wanted to point out that the diagram I posted is for an auto. On all the trucks I have seen the filter cannister is mounted on the manifold in front (bumper side) of the carb. Lines run the same.

No diagram but click on his gallery and he has a couple of photos of the engine with the filter sitting on it. Pretty much the same as the car 265 photo I posted earlier.

I believe that the oil pressure fitting at the front of the block was where they ran the line to the filter from and may have been put there for that purpose at the factory. Stock intakes may already be drilled and tapped for the return line or a guy could run a line to the filler tube for a return line.

It might be a lot easier to pull the filler tube off, drill a hole in the side of it and weld in a fitting to run the line to than drilling the manifold if the manifold isn't already drilled.

Save the fourth photo from the left in the link above to your computer then blow it up on the computer and you can see the lines to and from the filter real well in the photo.

I don't think it will expand enough in this photo but one can get a good look at it.
