wiring harnesses

Where is a good place to get a wiring harness. I checked painless and jegs and they are almost 600.00 bucks, FOR WIRES come on. Checked LMC and they a little cheaper. Any other ideas

Check AAW, American Auto Wire, they have really ggod products.

Here is something you will need to know, direct plug in, Good quality stuff you will pay higher price. Can you find cheaper? you bet ya! but is that what you want?

EZ-Wire makes a good wiring harness. If I remember correctly I paid $200 last year for a 21 circuit wiring harness. Real nice kit for the price, wires are labeled about every 6 inches.

I 2nd the vote for EZ. Used their kit to re-wire my '71, and it works just fine.

Well this thing has really been simplified, WELL, Anyway with it being DIESEL converted to GAS, I think everything under the hood is very smple. I got most of them cleaned up yesterday but got a few more to figur out. The gauges dont work but I found the wires for the gauges, The TEMP, OIL, FUEL, ALTERNATOR. then there are the two heavy red power wires. That is it/ I just gotta get the senders and hook up the gauges.

Then UNDER THE DASH, whew that one scares me. Just have wires hanging and cant stand that.

With Painless, it is a direct bolt in, not some universal kit you have to mount somewhere, then figure out how to make the factory harness hole (now vacant) look decent. You get what you pay for.

on the ez-kit, was it pretty easy to do i have an 82 i need to rewire, do i have to splice the headlight/taillight and any other connectors??

Well I have pretty much figured out the wiring, its just been cut by the previous owner. I have the guage wiring figured out so I just have to get off my lazy butt and do the rest of it. The fuel gauge is working now, found the ground was hooked to the bed instead of the frame, moved that and hooked it back up and it works noe. Went and got the oil and temp sensors and now just gotta put then in and wire them up.

Anyone have a picture of how he oild sensor goes mounts. I know its big and sits sideways by the distributor but I dont know what size the 90* degree fitting is. Asked at the parts house and the KID behind the counter just looked at me.

I just went ahead and bought a whole nuther truck for 800 bucks, used the wire harness and some other parts I needed and sold the truck for 650 bucks.

The problem w/the LMC harness is that it is a universal harness which means no bulk head connector for the firewall. The AAW is not a complete kit like the painless but replacement sections which is good if you're doing an original hook-up. Captnkaos on here sells them for a good price. I can't chime in on the other makes though.
