Electric Choke question

I got tired of messing with the manual choke and decided to install an electric choke. I have the edelbrock kit and I'm ready to go.

Question, is there an accl 12 vdc wire somewhere in the engine bay I can tie into easier than running a wire to the cab?

I ran mine to the fuse block, so it would only have power when key was on. That was the easy way for my truck (had wires running already). I ran wire by the t-stat, then along with gauge wire bundle. (Q-jet carb)

I love mine- I turn key to on, floor then release gas peddle, crank and truck will start & run without touching the gas.

Didn`t the factory tie into the solenoid wire for power for electric chokes, they would be switched only when used for start?

I don't know but that sounds logical. I might just go to the fuse block and run wiring for my temp gauge too. There is no working temp gauge at this time...... kill two birds with one stone.

Rich, that may be so but I think the edelbrock works like a thermostatic coil, when its cold the spring pulls the choke closed, when power is supplied by key-switch-on, the coil heats up, expands and opens the choke.

since it takes a little time for the coil to heat up and 'relax', the choke stays closed wherever the fast idle cam holds holds it, until the coil relaxes enough and you 'blip' the throttle, releasing the fast idle cam's hold on the linkage.

the factory probably used the starter solenoid circuit to close the choke somehow, and manifold heat to unwind the coil spring
