Cab Painting is FINISHED! OH YES

The cab is finished except for the Semi-Gloss Black plemtum box, that gets painted tomarrow 1/31. When we have that painted, it will really dress off the cab. The paint break lines he did are perfect in my opinion.

Lord Have Mercy, I never though I'd get this far! What do you think of the Canyon Blue and Olympic White. Both are 1960 GMC colors, non-metallic and base coat - clear coat.

Still need to run the buffer over the clearcoat that comes Tuesday and the 50/50 min ox Flat and Semigloss top coat for the dash top.

Re: Cab Painting is FINISHED! OH YES

The painter told me the roof gave him fits because of the light weight metal and trying not to lean into the sanding was real fun. I helped him wet sand the cab and when we did the roof it was a bit of a pain trying to put pressure on it but not push her in.

Re: Cab Painting is FINISHED! OH YES

What's Amazing is that I was going through the older pictures and forgot just how far we've come to save that cab. I can't remember who I got the Cab from anymore. Pipe up if it was YOU!

Quick time line, note the YEARS!

Bought cab from another member fall of 2003

Cab was delivered to his dads farm in Galva, Ill. Spring 2004

Went to get cab Summer of 2004 (trip from Hell)

WENT BACK to get Cab Fall of 2004 (Better trip)

Had cab Soda Blasted fall 2004.

Friend let it re-rust all to hell (The Ba*tard) 2 weeks later

Had cab acid dipped in in early August 2005

Had Cab primed on AUGUST 25, 2005

Katrina Came AUGUST 29th, drowned it! and had to start all over again! What a Bi*ch! Of course I lost everything else, so the truck was at the bottom of the list of things that were important.

Truck had to wait until I had a house, the nerve of IT!

Decided to clean her up in Fall 2007.

Worked with some guys to cut out the rot and fix the dents in can from Fall-2006 until Fall of 2009.

Art Glashot (Painter) took over at this point in October 2009 and was going good until he broke his left wrist and a few ribs (8-10 month project hold)

Late summer 2010 cab was straightened, Exterior and Interior body work completed and colors picked.

October/Novemebr 2010 interior painted and complete

January 2011 Cab completely painted.

It's been a LONG 7 years. I think I will win some sort of award for longest friggin time spent on a cab in history!

I know several people that would have given up a long time ago. There is just something about that body style and V-6 thats gets to you.

Jake
