Re: New lines?

Mike, when I did my restoration I got my lines from a place called Classic tube out of Buffalo NY. Lines are expensive, BUT, they are all made with stainless steel, even the factory type wrap and the nuts. All are bent exactly like factory and fit like a glove. No matter where you get them, the line behind the right motor mount is a real bear to get in even with the eng out, so be prepaired. jim

Little stuff left to do is mount winch, wet sand & buff out and build belly pan\running boards. Body work takes lots and LOTS of beer!!!! God, Guts and Guns made America and God, Guts and Guns will preserve it! The worst thing you could do is get into my sights, but that don't matter, you'll never know it, cause you'll never hear the shotJim or Paladin whichever you choose.

Re: New lines?

Buying prebent ones are ok but $$
and if you customize/lower it prebent may not work
I bought a roll and did my own
doing lines beside each other can be tricky (rusted together)
might cost more at first but learning how to do flares and double flares will payoff
CTC or another place might loan you a set
keep in mind you can do gas, tranny, and brake lines + more repairs once you learn

Re: New lines?

I bought a nice little tube flaring set from my local Home Hardware for $24.99 + tax, It's a piece of cake to figure out. As Motornut said Canadian Tire sells coils of tubing and fittings and they aren't that expensive, tubing bender can be bought there also and it isn't a whole lot of $$ either. All you need to make the lines close to the originals are a tape measure and a protracter to figure out the angles of any bends in the originals and the lengths between any bends. You may also be able to borrow the bender from friends(if you don't have one), CTC, or a Parts Source.

Re: New lines?

Thanks Dave.

Anybody happen to know how the lines differ from a 2wd to a 4x4?

Re: New lines?

Don't think there would be too much diff
maybe the flex lines would be longer.....
the lines go on the frame in the same place that i remember 2 or 4

Re: New lines?

I just don't want to start switching the body over and then all of a sudden find out I need to reroute brakes and fuel lines.
