temperature sensor advice needed

I can find the smaller one on the right which came from the drivers side at the auto parts store, but the one on the left which came from the passenger side was not there. The closest thing had 2 prongs, and the one I took off only has one prong. Does my old one have a prong broken off? Do I get the one with 2 prongs? Or should I get something better than what is available at the auto parts store?

What year engine are those out of? There should only be one actual temp sensor and the one on the right looks like it. Where exactly did the one of the left come out of, engine or head?

Hmmmm, They are on the heads. At least one head has been replaced, so it could be that something strange was done. There were wires coming out of both of them, but I don't remember what they went to. Here's the current pictures (passenger side on top) . It's a 1972 C10 with a 307.

the passenger side one went to a primitive smog control device called TSC.
Most people removed them 20 years ago. No reason for you not to do the same.

By the way, in the 'learn from my mistake' category -- the sloppy paint on the old spark plugs was not a good idea, simply because it made them hard to fit in or out of the wrench. Not a big deal, but I would be more careful next time.
