power steering problems
Every morning when I start my pickup I don't have power steering. I can't figure out what could be causing this. If I start my pickup and then turn it off and start it again I will have power steering. It's a weird thing... Maybe it's the cold weather? I replaced the power steering pump this summer since the last one was so winy. I park my truck outside at night. Could it just be the cold? It just doesn't make sense that when I turn it off and turn it right back on it works.
Any advice would be helpful! Thank you |

Re: power steering problems
Must be something on the pressure side of the pump. I would check two things. The most logical would be the screen/ orfice in the fitting on the back side of the pump. Sometimes they get a piece of junk stuck in there. Remove the pressure line from the back side of the pump and remove the fitting and the screen and orfice blow it out with compressed air. While you have the line off check for kinks or anything lodged inside.
I don't have any pics but there is a small debri screen behind that fitting.
