Heater questions
Forgive me if this is a silly question. Is there a replacement heater defrost system for these trucks that doesn't require coolant lines. Maybe a electric system. My question is based on if you shave all the heater holes from the fire wall how do you get heat or defrost. This seems like a dumb question even to me but I want to completely shave the firewall smooth and all I've found so far require coolant line to get the heat. I thought they would have made some sort of electric system. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Maybe even a picture or two of how guys have theirs set up.

There is none tht I know of. There use to be an electrical heater box that was used in the Suburbans ubder a rear seat to help heat the rear area, but thats all I know of. All aftermarket systoms that I know of require the hot water that your engine produces to make heat. All AC systoms require the refrigerent to be pumped through the systom, so there are lines that need to go to an engine driven pump. You can always run the hoses through a less visable spot on the firewall. WES

Thanks Wes. I thought that might be the case. Are there any suggestions on how to run hoses out of sight? What are people doing if they shave the blower holes and the plumbing holes for the coolanr/fresh air supply to the heater assembly? Maybe they have no heat or defrost at all??? Living in the north it didn't occur to me not to have a heater. Not that I drive my C10 or Blazer in anything other than sunshine..lol. The blazer will be a roadster so on cool nights I would still like to have some heat on the toes. This helps keep the wife quiet as well...lol.

Look thru some aftermarket AC/Heater installs.Many route the hoses over to the inner fenderwell and run them behind the lip of the fender.Some also run their wiring harness this way on the drivers side.

I'll have to do some more digging to see some pictures of what your describing. I figured if I'm going to the trouble of smoothing everything on the firewall I should have some idea how to route the coolant lines and wiring. Thanks.
