Opinions requested....

If you had the option of dropping a short bed or long bed fleetside to the ground, which would you choose and why?

Re: Opinions requested....

I wouldn't drop any truck to the ground. Just my preference.

That being said if you were going to have one of these trucks with a lowered stance, which would you choose and why?

Re: Opinions requested....

I have had 2 step sides and now a short bed fleet side and I prefer the fleet side for a slammed truck. To me the lines are cleaner.

Re: Opinions requested....

swb is the popular choice. it's the reason they are more expensive.

Re: Opinions requested....

Its my opinion that LWB are less popular than SWB because they look slightly out of proportion.... when the truck is lowered, this is exaggurated...
Therefore I think most will prefer the SWB when lowered as well...

I think LWB look best for 4WD... or 3/4 ton for the same reason... the higher the truck is then the more SWB looks out of proportion... 3/4 ton 4WD with a tool box looks perfectly proportioned to me....

Any other stance...? give me the SWB...

Re: Opinions requested....

I like 'em long and low. I have too much crap to fit in a SWB. I was going to cut this one down, but changed my mind after seeing a few left long. But it's a preference thing.

This is kinda my thinking, I was trying to picture the way my truck could look both long and short, I have lwb frame and box as well as a swb fram and box, but only keeping one and want to sell the other stuff to help cover the costs. I think that long low look would give it a sleeker look with the longer lines.

Re: Opinions requested....

ive got a LWB because I prefer - though the SWB trucks are great too - my thinking is as follows:
SWB looks best SLAMMED
either look great tail draggin
my LWB will be slightly raked (front end dropped more than rear) by the end of the summer as I think that will nail the hot rod stance im going for

Re: Opinions requested....

I had a 65 short step lowered and liked the look of that.

I think the look of a long bed that has more rocker on the ground looks cool too.

Re: Opinions requested....

if choice is between long and short fleet, i think shortbed wins as a better looking lowered truck. (but then again, i'm a shortbed fan in general) either can look great if the craftsmanship os good to go. For me, if one wants to lower a C10, I prefer short-fleets for that mod. My 2 cents only, to each his own, they all look good!

Re: Opinions requested....

are you gonna be carrying stuff or are you just driving it around as a cool mode of transport? I wanted a longbed because I want to be able to carry my Harley in the back. That and I love the look of longbed stepsides for whatever reason...more so than the shorties.

Re: Opinions requested....

I like them all lower. Having one of each make the proportions seem right to me now, where before I used to think the longbeds looked funny. I collected pics of some members trucks when good shots were posted, too. Anyway, original question.......I would drop the SB if I could only do one.

I'd say go with a short then. I see way more SWB's for sale around here too. I always cringe when I see the threads on chopping a LWB to SWB for that reason. Then again YMMV, to me it just seems like you should wait and get the one you want rather than turn it into it.
