Would you buy this 55?

I know were truck guys here but curious what you guys think this 55 is worth its a 210 wagon two door, no engine or trans. Originally a V8 and comes with front disc brake kit, booster, ect. Has rust in front floor and the passenger rocker is fiberglassed (pics below), otherwise its ok rust wise for the most part.

What do you guys think?? I was thinking about, just installing a motor/trans and making it into a driver again and patch the floor and leave the body as is? Is it worth it?

Re: Would you buy this 55?

"is it worth it?" depends on how much he's asking. Got a feeling 55 wagons are few and far between in Anchorage.

Re: Would you buy this 55?

Anything with a working heater is worth it in Anchorage this time of year

If you just want a driver it may be a good candidate but there is a lot of rot on that body. The drip rail shows evidence of rot which can be a death sentance for tri-5 wagons. If it shows on the outside it is worse on the inside.

The front glass looks like it will need replacement also. That will cost you to get glass up to you I would think.

All depends on the price.

Re: Would you buy this 55?

Well I'm a trifive nut so if the price is right it would be mine are you kidding a 2 door wagon. If you can do the work yourself and the price is right I would say yes. Its a 2 door wagon man. I was looking for one when I brought my 55 210, actually I was looking for a nomad but I would have settled for a 2 door wagon.

For the right price would do it. If the rust isn't bad around the drip rails I would think you can replace most anything else without a lot of problems.
2 door wagons are very cool.

Re: Would you buy this 55?

Thanks everyone for the great advise, great pics! As far as the drip rail rust I don't think it has any and if it does its pretty minor. I know around here things tend to rust from the bottom up from the roads, while the top stays mostly dry. I know this is true at least with all my experiences with 67-72 trucks.

He is asking $3500 for it, so I think I'll make a lower offer and see if he goes for it or not, if not then I'll just keep looking. I have the metal skills and such to fix just about any rust issues it has so thats good.

Re: Would you buy this 55?

Looks like a pretty complete 55. If you would be happy with a drive train and a few improvements and drive to wheels off it than I don't see how you could go wrong

I know what you mean. I built my 55 3 differnt times. This las round was 6 years and the very last. I have to tell you it's a blast to drive fast in. It handles better than a lot of Vettes on the roads.

Re: Would you buy this 55?

Well after a long crazy 4 hour drive down to Homer, AK from Anchorage, AK on icy roads, I bought the car and towed it back on a tow dolly on the icy roads. It was a bit tricky in some areas but it made it back! Here's some pictures! Its in pretty good shape rust wise, absolutely nothing in the drip rail areas with no signs of previous repairs or hacks in that area. The only problem area I can find on the extieror is the passenger side rocker panel has some spots that have been "patched" with fiberglass, but thats typical as well as some floor issues. Otherwise it was a great buy overall!

Started by buffing out the crappy paint:

That's for sure, bad thing is I had to tow it back 220 miles like that, with each rear wheel being held on with 2 lug nuts! I'm planning to pull the wheels and fix the studs as well as install the complete front disc brake setup it came with.
