Unhappy Hate to tell you guys this but.......

I have a bad feeling that truck was purchased yesterday afternoon or last night. When i headed home, it was still sitting there but i didn't have the time to talk to the guy as i had to be back to town early. So I drove by where it should have been sitting this morning on my way to school and its not there. I HAD planned on talking to him as soon as i got out of class today, i guess if i don't see it sitting back in its spot, i can only assume its gone Tis a sad day today, oh well, you can't win them all.....

Well I'm sorry to hear you missed the truck. Kind of reinforces my philosophy... If you see a good deal jump right on it because if you don't someone else will..... Better luck next time. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

That's too bad. I hope whoever bought it knows what they bought.

Perhaps someone took it for a test drive or the owner was using it.

That's too bad! I make it a habit to make my mind up about getting something at the time I first see it, cause it may not be there tommorrow.as you have already learned.

Another spin on your bad luck. You told everyone on this board where it was and how much the asking price was. I gotta be honest, I even considered driving up there to get it, since I was on my spring break this week.

When you find a good deal, keep it to yourself, until it's actually yours, then you can brag about. Just my honest .02

Well,
If someone on the board bought it, maybe they will get on here and show / tell evryone. But then again..... maybe they would keep it to themselves.
Like someone else said, maybe the guy selling it just drove it somewhere for a while.
My theory is, somthing else will always show up. Just be careful, because it's usually when you least expect it, or are not prepared / ready.

Well, it would seem that this truck is gone for good. I saw nothing but emptiness sitting at that house. No, i would have either bought it or told others to go after it before it was too late. I suppose I could stop and ask if he had sold it, might break down if he says "yeah" but life goes on. Next time, i will keep mouth shut till the title is in my hands, LOL! I wondered about that when i posted the message, but i guess the excitment got the best of me :p

First: If I came across a great deal last thing I would do is tell a bunch of Chevy nuts.

Second: Does this mean supercheyenne that if I find a great deal on Ebay that all board members are not to bid against me??? I was hoping 68Custom would get the truck I was trying to light a fire under him...

If I were you, I would go to this guy's house and asked him if he really sold the truck or not, that way you'd know for sure.

Better luck next time, and remember, brag about it after you buy it, just my .02 cents

Angry True

I after the last few days have told myself If I see a truck sitting I am going to walk right up to the door and ask about it. I knew where there was one sitting in front of a house I wasn't sure if it was a 67 or a 68. I would go by it everyday on the way to pick up my little girl and google it. I had just learned how to tell the difference between the two a few days ago and was wanting to drive by it again to see if it was a 67-68. I haven't seen it since. I did find a few in a salvage today and one going down the highway on my way to the salvage. The ones in the salvage were stripped and needed work then I would attempt but I am getting closer.

Hey guys, for those of you around Wichita, a guy that I work with has a 72 camper special that he's currently using as a farm truck. He's been talking about selling it so that he can get a 4wd but it may be just talk. If anyone's interested I'll ask him if he's serious about selling it. It has the typical Chevy rust but is otherwise very solid with cold air and the original 402 big block/turbo400 combo.

i feel your pain. i once passed up a free 66 that was a nice rolling project w/not motor or tranny. it was a one time deal the guy was moving out of town right then and i had to come get it right then. i couldn't think of where to put it so i passed, and kicked myself every day for it since. at least i could have turned around the next day and sold it for 500 bux. just learn your lesson for next time

68 Custom,
Go knock on the guys door. If he does still have it you win. If he doesn't ask him questions about the buyer. If he's from out of town I bet there's a slimeball amongst us. Post whatever you find here. I'm real curious now.

Nope, I got 3 of them already. And I personally don't like longbeds, let alone longer beds. (I do own one longbed though)

mean while back at the slim balls secret lair a 68 Longhorn lurks in the driveway

The orignal post from 68 Custom follows
50th Anniversary Pickup
I found a 50th forsale in Inman, Kansas. It is a 1968 Chevrolet Longhorn Custom Camper Package with a 396 Big Block. The camper is no longer with this truck but it is all original as far as i can tell and from what the owner told me. He is asking 1500 for it and the only rust i found was the passenger side rocker and cab corner. It has power steering, power brakes and A/C. It also has a turbo 400. If i had the space to take it up, i would have along time ago but being in college, thats just not possible. Anyone near this truck should definitely look at this!!

Aaron

2:00 PM Tues...Find out about the truck from a fellow board member via phone.

5:00 Pm Tues.. Drive 6 miles from where I work to look at the truck.. Not really my style of truck and needs some work. Talk to owner tell him I'll think about. Not active on the board for the following day.

6:00Pm Wed.. Think about it realize the truck may have some potential if I work on it and resell it hopefully for a profit (really want a bb long bed 1/2 ton got to get money to buy them however too) Drive to Inman again and tell the guy I'll take it and will plan on picking it up the next day.

7:00Pm Thur.... Arrive home with the new ride. Fellow board members calls and I tell him I had it sitting in my driveway. He goes UH thought the other kid was getting it he has pictures posted of it and everything. Look at the thread that was posted and realize we probably have problems.

Fri, Sat, and Sunday ponder what I going to do. Feel that I really did not do anything out of line. Did I?

My solution to the problem at hand. 68Custom come and get it if you want it as it sets $1500.00 otherwise I going back to my orignal plans.

Later All..........
The Slim ball.As titled from a fellow board member

i don't think you did anything wrong man, he orginaly posted that he couldn't buy it, so what was to keep you from buying it? i would have done the same thing

if he said he was about to go over and buy it the next day and you beat him to it, that would be a different story, but i think you played fair

There seems to be that a lot of people on the board think that because they see something first, or asked the first question on the parts board, that they have marked it for first dibs.

My suggestion in the future, if you are interested in buying something, keep it to yourself until you decide.

I was the first to tell "68Custom" to go buy the truck. I knew a truck would not be around long.

Would I have personally gone and bought that truck with out talking to 68Custom first? No

But I really don't think 70burbulgy really did anything wrong. If everyone kept waiting on the truck, someone else would have snatched it.

I think 70burbulgy is being a stand up guy by offering 68Custom the pickup for the $1500.
