Welcome to the site...

A big Howdy, from Texas.

What did you find out about the V0725 code? I'm not familiar with it. What part of the engine did you get it from?

Also, is it possible the U5 may be US??? Sometimes those stamped numbers are not very clear.

The serial # I found was on the passanger side on the block just forward of the head on a flat machined surface. The V= Flint plant the 0721= production date of July 21 but I can't find a code for the U5.I also thought it may be a S instead of a 5{which would mean a 307 out of a Caprice}but its easy to read and its a U5.Thanks anyhow.I will keep researching in the meantime maybe someone is more familiar with the codes than I am.Thanks.

Re: engine code ?

There should be more numbers on that pad, if not it probably was decked and those numbers were stamped by someone. Let us know what the block casting number is, rear deck behind the head, and the date stamp on the opposite side.

Re: engine code ?

After finding a casting number{driver side near bell housing}looks like I have a 69-73 307 rather than a 350.My fault for not researching it futher before the purchase.Who knows maybe its the orginal engine,I'll try to check and see. Thanks for the help.
