Re: 1963 c10 door not closing all the way
mine was doing the same thing i had to just loosen the "striker plate" i think its called, where the door actually latches to the cab, and i moved it out a lil so it could get a good bite. it worked on the drivers but not the passengers side tho. i also have some lmc wether stripping but i havent installed it yet. once i do that hopefully it should be good...also i bought two of the little black bumper things cuz they were 99 cents but i dont have anywhere to put them? is that normal? theres no holes for a lil stopper.
edit: moved it in not out Last edited by scum1; 02-08-2011 at 10:55 PM. |

i adjusted the hinges and striker plate and still nothing. there is no spot for bumpers on mine and the weatherstrip make it to where you dont need it.

Re: 1963 c10 door not closing all the way
If I was to take a guess, I would say that the latch assembly in the door needs to be replaced. There is a spring inside the latch that breaks. With the door open try to move the latch with your finger or a screw driver. Once you have made it latch twice, push the button and see if the latch springs back all the way, if not replace the latch. Sean

I think I would still be inclined to replace it, even with a good used one. Does it make a difference if the window is down. I know Ive replaced door rubbers in the past and it makes the cab air tight. Sean

Are the door seals new? That may make it hard to close until they take shape.

Re: 1963 c10 door not closing all the way
I have a '63 and I'm having the same problem. I have 2 different latches that go on the inside of the door and I've tried both of them, moving the striker plate each time. The only thing I can think of is both latches may be worn out so I'm just gonna get a new one.

Re: 1963 c10 door not closing all the way
My doors in the '63 were closing fine until I replaced the door rubber. The passenger side closes fine, but the driver's side door doesn't. I have to roll the window down and really slam it. As soon as the weather warms a bit, I'll try more adjusting.

Re: 1963 c10 door not closing all the way
There was a post here that brought this issue up with the doors not closing right after new seals. I saw that one person used a rope or something to full the doors tight and left it over night so that the seals would form to the door.
You could try that? |

Re: 1963 c10 door not closing all the way
It's important to install the weather seal with a pie-cut where the two ends meet at the bottom of the door. This cut allows air trapped inside the seal to escape when the seal is trying to compress as the door is closed
