frame cut
DO you need to use a super "C" to knotch out the frame if you use a flip kit. I'm new to dropping trucks and want to find out as much info as possible so I do it right.

No, super, or step notches are for extreme drops, 10" or more and you usually have to have an adjustable suspension of some sorts.
A bolt in notch plate should come with a flip kit, and that will allow plunty of clearence for the rear axle. I think you should pick up a copy of Truckin, or Streettrucks magazine. |

kman381,
A 5" drop does not require a "c" notch. The truck however will bottom out very quick. Anything over 5" should have a "C" notch. You can use a shackel/hanger combo with some dropped leaf springs to get 5" very easily. There are several ways to drop your truck. All you need to do is decide which is easier for you and how much you want to spend. ------------------ Gerardo 1983 Custom Truck TX Plates: "BAD BOW" [This message has been edited by gchemist (edited April 11, 2002).] |

check out this post i made a while back about doing a c-notch, it should answer a few of your queations but feel free to ask more. you can also see the rear shackles that lowered it 2 inches in addition to the 5 inches from the flip kit. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/board/ub...ML/000177.html
