Front leafs
I have a 55 2nd series..half ton.Have power disc brakes to install & wanted to lower the front a bit at same time. I was thinking of different leafs. Either mono, multi or super slides from posies. Or would I be better off with A dropped Axel.

Re: Front leafs
I looked into this before I decieded to clip the front end instead, but to anwer your question... It really depends on the amount of drop you want. From everything I found out, for just a sight drop like 1-2" different leafs are a good choice and will lessen the harshness of the ride in the front. For a 3" drop, the drop axle is the best way to go hands down. If you want 5" or so you would need to do both due to the traval limit on the axle. As for who to buy from... there is lots out there. there was recently a tech article in Classic Trucks on this exact subject. I can remenber the month though.
As you can tell I went a different route, for the price, drop and ride quality I'm after I have to IFS the front. (wife is not pleased with my choice BTW) IMO: there's some nostalgic coolness about a solid front axle in an old truck (lowered or not) |

Re: Front leafs
I'm thinking of trying EATON SPRINGS, I've read some good reviews.....
Maybe someone who's actually used them can provided more information on them. |
