2WD to Symmetrical AWD?
This may not be realistically possible, but is there a way to change my 2wd chevy C10 over to a symmetrical AWD system like subaru by just changing out the transfer case, drive shaft, and rear diff? all while keeping my 350 with the possibility of upgrading later to a bigger newer motor?

Re: 2WD to Symmetrical AWD?
I'm guessing you meant to put this in a different section... But on a Subaru they also have a front differential, which your 2wd C10 doesn't. Subaru's website explains the difference between a symmetrical system liked theirs and a typical truck system... Here's some diagrams:
Subaru's System: "Normal" Truck System: It'd be pretty hard to convert your C10 into an AWD drive like that... If you want to convert yours to a regular 4x4, there's a ton of advice in the 4x4 section of thise site. Personally I would never think of taking on such a project like that, and if I wanted more traction would add a locker or posi to the rear instead. |

Re: 2WD to Symmetrical AWD?
Yeah this needs moved to the 4 wd section. ANYTHING is possible if you have the money! Look how the newer awd full sizes are(tahoe, Suburban maybe) and see if it can be adapted to your truck. Like said its going to be pricey. Is it practical?

Re: 2WD to Symmetrical AWD?
Theres a post like this in the 67-72 section im guessing its you? Why not just put your truck on a newer frame of like a 04 with 4x4lock, father had it on his truck and that thing was unstopable
