Tow/Haul mode no go

As you can see I'm having a problem with the tow/haul mode on my 2000 Sierra. I can press the button on the shifter lever all day long and nothing happens. Is there a fuse that could be blown? Thanks ahead of time.

Re: Tow/Haul mode no go

Going off my (bad) memory, pressing that switch simply grounds a pin on the PCM to tell it to use the tow/haul shifting tables. I would bet the switch is shot......

Another thing to check is a pair of wires that run from the switch down the column. From what I've seen about this subject, they have a bad habit of breaking inside the column. Do a search on this subject and you'll find some info on which wires and where and on repairing them.

Happened on my truck. Not too hard to fix.

Re: Tow/Haul mode no go

SO finally had a chance to take things apart and turns out you guys were spot on. Wires were cut clean in two. Had powerdriver1958 help me solder the wires back together and everything is good. Thanks for the help everyone.

Re: Tow/Haul mode no go

It's the Orange wire. Mine happened @ 100k miles. Easy fix with solder gun and shrink tubing. No problem in 15k miles. The fix is much cheaper then replacement as you have to buy the whole shift handle from Chevy
