New wheels and tires
I have 71 c20 Longhorn Camper Special and I am getting ready to upgrade from the original rims. I plan on lowering it a few inches in the front and rear, and I am looking for classic looking rim that will fill out the wheel well. I want to have 3" or 4" sidewalls so I think I will need atleast an 18" wheel. I like the cragar 398's and their 5 spokes.
Does anyone have any recommendations? I am also concerned as to what rims can actually fit a 8 lug c20 with a 4.10 rear. |

Re: New wheels and tires
Welcome to the board from a fellow longhorn owner... that is a SHARP lookin longhorn!
I have to say something, there's a few guys here (myself included) that cringe at the camper special name... becouse that would make it a ford in 67 - 72 years. It's a custom camper. You should have no problems locating good looking aftermarket rims for your truck. As long as they are not intended for a late model ford, then they should go on there no problem. |

Re: New wheels and tires
Thanks for the advice. Is there any offset needed?
Any recommendations for large 8 lug rims or possibly a picture of the ones on your truck would be much appreciated. |

Re: New wheels and tires
Welcome to the forum todd99. Your going to have to do some research to find much of a choice in 8 lug rims. They are out there, but rather limited.

Re: New wheels and tires
I have plain white steel wheels on mine. Used to run pretty hubcaps and trim rings, but I peeled them off a year ago or so and never bothered putting them back on... lazyness provails.
To get some good options, look in the 4X4 section of the catalogs. They advertise more 8 lug wheels there, and some decent widths. I couldn't tell you what backspacing to look for, honestly, I just look at them and pretty much know. |

Re: New wheels and tires
^^^ I'm running out of things to upgrade and their next. Also I realized the tires are 10 years old so they have to go, and while I'm at it I may as well do the rims.
Anyone want to buy them? They are 16.5's and I put fresh paint on them when I painted my truck last year. |
