Re: New to the forum
Someone and something that I feel a kinship with. to the forum, from the Heart of Arkansas!
Bought mine in October of '99; drove it until October of '07. The cab comes off of the chassis, this weekend. Then, we start cleaning it up.

Re: New to the forum
Its nice to be in contact with people who can live cars and trucks again. Since I joined the military I feel like no one here knows or has any interest in cars and trucks. I am a ASE Certified deisel mechanic by trade before joining the military. So its hard for me not to be around people that don't eat, breath, and live for customization and the need to make things better and different. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone

Re: New to the forum
I used to street race my truck back in my high school years growing up. I parked it when I went to UTI in Phoenix, AZ. Didn't think I could handle living in AZ without A/C and the gas mileage would of killed me. Problem being that when I returned home from Tech school many of the components, seals, tires, and electricl and failed during my 3 years away. So began my frame up resto

Re: New to the forum
Ordered $3,400 worth of parts for my 400 small block friday. My machinist has to check everything and then add his custom touch the heads I ordered. later today clean up my upper control arms, power steering box, cross shaft, calipers, rotors, and timing chain cover. Then paint and install all my front suspension components. Have it down on its own wheels by tonight. Set your goals high. Strive to surpass them.

Re: New to the forum
I bought my GMC in 2000 as well. As you can tell from my sig. I've spent the last ten years dreaming about the day I could drive her again. A thousand times I've cursed the fact I ever started a resto project as I hauled it from one location to another.
Well...I'm just waiting for the rims and insurance now. Given time and money anything is possible, esp. if you're a mechanic. This board will keep your spirits up as the long journey progresses.

Re: New to the forum
i know exactly what ya mean Spoof. Ever since I started pulling my truck apart I've wished I had never started the resto. But, this year is the year she will run. Might be a little ugly on the outside but I'll be damned if it makes it another 6 months without running. May is my goal to have it running and legally streetable. I just dropped $4,500 on engine parts last week. Hopefullt I'll have everything by the end of the month. My machinist wants to put his finishing touches on the $1,500 heads I bought and then he has to ship them 650mi to me. It should run pretty good, I've got a 400sb, bored 0.030 over, Scat lightweight internally balanced crank, H Beam rods, Forged SRP pistons, Edelbrock Aluminum heads, Full roller rockers, Dual plane intake, 750 cfm Edelbrock Carb,TCI flexplate, TCI Beakaway Torque convertor for my TH400 trans, and some other misc engine parts.
I'll be damned if I go another year without being able to enjoy driving my truck

Re: New to the forum
I'm in Rapid city. Souix Falls wouldn't be bad, its just that this town is so small and there ain't much to do. But that might be a good thing for me right now since I'm trying to get my truck up and runnin again. good ol' military has to put their bases in the most inconvienent places.
