Re: any ideas tailgate latches?

I used the old slide type latches.
kinda like this
http://hardware.hardwarestore.com/73...lt-640074.aspx

drilled a hole in the stake pocket at the rear of the bed and put a rubber grommet in it for protection. I also chromed it. It isnt the prettiest but it works well.

Re: any ideas tailgate latches?

My brother just finished a conversion of a 66 shortwide with a 78 Elco latch system.
Nothing but a handle on the inside to see.

Re: any ideas tailgate latches?

I've seen a few trucks with seat belt latches holding the tailgate up.

Re: any ideas tailgate latches?

The Mar-K hidden latch works with the fleetside gate. http://www.mar-k.com/58-66_GM_Fleet_TG_hidden_latch.pdf for a copy of the installation instructions.

No, just the Elco handle recessed on the inside.
Used that, and parts from a 72 tailgate.
It works awesome, and nothing sticking up like other alternatives.

Mar-Ktech
Why can't we use the inside single latch kit on something other then a Mar-K tailgate. Personally I don't have over $600 to drop on a tailgate.
