New Engine for OLD TRUCK

The motor is a 383 stroker with cast iron vortec heads with 2.02 valves, roller rockers, etc. The compression is 8.8 to 1 so I should be able to run 5 to 6 pounds of boost. Blower is Edelbrock with a matched 850 carb. I bought the blower set up from Jegs. I was surfing their site and came across it. The price was exactly $1,000 less than I normally see them at. I jumped on it. (The price is back up so they must have realized their mistake.) Still need a few pieces to complete - gas lines, accessory brackets, etc. Its going into the truck in the back ground. Hoping to have it in by July.

Re: New Engine for OLD TRUCK

VDOG - Thanks for the compliments. You are right, the price to play is very high around my house. I just spent the better of the day texturing the bathroom in our house. Next weekend its painting said bathroom before putting in new fixtures, etc. I'm escaping on the 12th to attend the CPP event. I'll be going down the 405 if you want to meet up and go with me.

Those darn honneydoos just never end. You should see my list.
That sounds like a plan but depending on where the CPP cruise starts you might have to jump on the 91 when you get out this way. CPP is off the 91 fwy. Also I should be back running by then. Will you have that beast instlled?

How does that set up fit under the hood? You going to go with a cowl hood, or cutting a hole?

Re: New Engine for OLD TRUCK

"OLD TRUCK"!? Man that looks beautiful. Love the color and the old school wheels. I recall a brand way back called 'Jackman'. Are those? I built a model kit in the same colors and wheels when I was a kid.

Re: New Engine for OLD TRUCK

Sorry guys for the late response. Thanks to everyone for the props. Since last year I have been side tracked with a CJ5 I bought. Its in the paint shop and should be done shortly so I can get back to this truck.

John - I hope to make it to the Brothers Truck show. I'll let you know so you can save me a spot!

Cleszke - I measured and it should fit under the hood. Should is the key word. I've seen similar setups that fit.

Jablack - Just garage floor paint. Its pretty messed up from me dragging stuff across it.

Stomper - The wheels were made by American. I had a set back in the day. I heard they were prone to breakage when wheeled hard. I found these on the internet for a $100 for all 4. I got lucky. I think the guy thought they were just messed up chrome. These old wheels come to life with a little work.

My wife has been getting on my back to get the motor in the truck. She wants it out of the garage. I will need to oblige her this summer. The motor in it has some leakage issues and a flat lobe on the cam or bad lifter. (I ran it low on oil.) I will rebuild it and stick it in another chev I own.
Doug
