FYI on 700r4 install - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Didn't want to put this out till I got a few miles on it. I installed the trans (700r4) in my 66 with a 350 in the stock location (back holes on the frame). I used the drive shaft out of a 2000 chevy blazer (4 dr) the only thing I had to change was the rear u-joint and it bolted right up. I now have 500 miles on this set up with no issues. This will save those that want to do this swap the trouble of getting the drive shaft cut down. I though I kept the box from the u-joint for the part number but can't find it sorry. But the guy at autozone helped me out and found the right one. Hope this helps you guys out.

Is that a full-size blazer or an s series? That sure will take a lot of guess work out of things, especially if you run across a part number for that u joint...

Please give more info about the driveshaft.I assume you put it in a swb,is that correct? Also which blazer,small or big,which engine,etc. Could you please take the time to measure the center to center distance between the u-joints? You may have found something that will be of great benifit to board members.

It was out of the S-model and it was steel drive shaft. My truck is a SWB and I will measure the new shaft but if I remember right it was 53 and a half from u-joint centers. I will also look hard for the part number.

Did some research and have some info to add. The driveshaft for a 2000 4 dr s-10 blazer is the same for years 96-2005. I had the wrecking yard measure one and C to C on the u-joints is 51 1/2 inches(according to them).That is 2 inches too short for my application as I need 53 1/2. So the measurement on your driveshaft becomes more important.
