Any original owners around?

Is anyone on this forum the original owner of a 67-72 they still own? I know some of us (myself included) drive 67-72s that have been in the family since new -- but did anybody here actually drive the truck off the lot? I did a search and saw this type of thread has been posted a couple of times over the years, but nobody on those threads stepped up as an original owner. Just curious.

Re: Any original owners around?

Considering I would have been 1 year old when my truck was new I don't think I fit into this catagory!

Re: Any original owners around?

I understand. My uncle was in his mid 30s when he drove my family C-10 off the lot in 1967, and he will turn 80 this year. The truck is several years older than I am.

Re: Any original owners around?

Here's a one-owner '67, bought new in September of '67. I don't own it, and the owner isn't on the board, but here's his truck.

Talked to him this morning (Tuesday, 2/15). He has repainted it three times. Once, was following the tornadoes that struck Xenia, OH, several years ago. He said he was on the 3rd floor of the office bldg he worked in and saw baseball-sized hail bouncing off of it. The next two times he painted it was after his two sons had used it at school (college).

Chevloray,

Pretty truck! Does it not have side mirrors or am I just not seeing them? Any idea what color it was originally? Is that a red interior?

Re: Any original owners around?

I am not the original owner, but my truck is still in the original owners name. The previous owner is the chevy dealer who sold it to him.

I am working a way to keep the original tittle.

The closest one I know to being original owner is EdB. He got his 70 in 73 and is still using in it.

Wish I could have done that. I bought mine from my uncle, the original owner, late last year. It was painful to sign that old title and turn it over to the DMV. Your post made me realize I did not keep a copy for a keepsake, which was stupid.

Jason,

My Super was a one owner, and the OK DMV called Texas and they said they were OK with a copy of the front and back of it, so I've got the original title to mine.

Not the original owner but I was a passenger when my dad drove the '67 off the dealer's lot. I was 17 and went looking at new trucks with him. I inherited it in 1982.

Re: Any original owners around?

This is my 1st post. I've been lurking for about 9 months. I just can't resist responding to this thread.

I purchased my 69 CST-20 with bucket seats, A/C, 350, TH-400, etc. new at Barton's Chevrolet in Yorba Linda, CA, on Nov. 20, 1969, and drove it off the lot the next day. I was 24 at the time. The truck was built at Fremont , CA, almost a year earlier the 1st or 2nd week of December, 1968. I drove it sparingly during the early 80s and have stored it in my garage since 1988. It has 118,7XX miles on it. Even though it was very presentable and has very little rust, I began a frame-off restoration this past summer. Currently all body panels are out for refinishing and I have the chassis and powertrain in my garage to restore when the weather gets warmer. If I recall correctly the only significant items that are not original on the truck are the alternator and one head. I am purist at heart and restored a 1958 Corvette during the late 80s that has won the NCRS Duntov award and is Bloomington Gold certified. However, with the truck, I plan to replace the original 350 with a GMPP 350/330 HP crate engine, add a tilt wheel and AM/FM, use 2006 3/4 ton aluminum wheels and install an oak bed floor. Since I will retain all the original parts all modifications can be easily reversed if I eventually sell to a purist. I also still have the cab-over camper I purchased at the same day as the truck.

Thats pretty cool. I hope you guys keep it in your family forever.

Im not the original owner of my K20, but I did buy it from the original owner. My neighbor across the street sold it to me before he and his wife retired and bought a giant motor home and went traveling.

I do have all the original paper work. Receipts, everything.

It has the factory mirror on the drivers' door.

That is the original color, but it is the 2nd repaint. His two boys used it when they were in college.

The interior is red.

He just had the engine rebuilt last spring.

Re: Any original owners around?

Well, seeing as the truck rolled off the lot 20 years before I was born...nope. But my great grandpa bought it new in 67.

My father in law also has an International S-100 he is restoring that his grandpa bought new in 56.

Re: Any original owners around?

I'm the second owner of my truck. I bought it from an old farmer 10-11 years ago. It has about 5000 more miles on it than when I bought it.

Re: Any original owners around?

I realize you're askin for 67-72, so mine's a bit newer:

but I drove it off the end of the assembly line myself. Left the plant at 1 am and it was sitting on the dealer's lot by 5 pm that same day.

Kept it for 4 years, sold it to my father in law. Got it back 18 years later.

So I'm the original, and third, owner of my truck.
