A/C Question

Just recently purchased a serpentine kit off a 99 Tahoe and was wondering what do I need to change to make the A/C work. I know I need to change the lines but do I need to change the condensor, accumulator, heater core, etc? Thanks for the help

I suggest changing the condensor. A cross flow condensor will work better. Your current one can work but not as efficient. You can buy at Oriellys. All new condensors should be crossflow. You can keep everthing else. Remember to wire in the low and high pressure switches in series. They will turn off the compressor if either one opens. New lines are a great upgrade. New lines have a liner built in. The inner and outter walls are lined by a platic barrier. The barrier helps reduce hose expansion and R134 loss. A new accumulator and orifice tube are required too. Change the low pressure sensor. Over time, they can leak too.

SO their are definately bolt on crossflows for Squares now, no need to adapt a universal??

Thanks gchemist. Luckily I already bought that condensor didn't know if I needed one for a Tahoe. Any other part numbers you might have will be appreciated.

Use the low pressure switch for the proper year model, 99. Same thing for the orfice tube. Wire the same way as the current pump.

I like my serpentine belt system.


I run dual LS1 fans on my truck. Are you going to run a mechanical fan? If so, use a plastic blade type. Replace water pump with a mid-90's reverse rotation water pump. Seal the gap between the condensor and radiator. You want to get max air flow across the condensor. Max air = colder A/C!!
