Where to find clip style steel wheels?

Anybody have any sources for new steel wheels with the clips on them that hold 55-57 style dog-dish hubcaps? Seems as though Wheel Vintiques just started making them, but not in the truck bolt pattern.

How hard would it be to swap from 73-87 brake discs to ones with a 5 on 4.75 bolt pattern?

I haven't seen anyone making an exact replica yet. I saw the same wheels you did by V.W.W.

Might want to check in the 73-87 area or the suspension forum to see what it would take to switch to a different bolt pattern on that piece.

Re: Where to find clip style steel wheels?

There was a later model Camaro that had heavy duty brakes on it. The discs will fit on the 73-87 spindles with some changes to the inner and outer bearings. You may have to do some research. I looked at doing it for the cradle that is swapped into my son's 49 1 ton panel but I decided to go with a cross member change.

Not really...I have a 73-87 front suspension setup on my 57, and if I can just swap the discs out for ones with a different bolt pattern I might go that route. I would just do adapters, but I don't think I have the room to add a 1 inch adapter in unless they can make the wheels with custom offsets.

Re: Where to find clip style steel wheels?

Question: If I am searching for a set of these wheels:

..that will mount those hubcaps properly, what years were the clip-style wheels used? I think 55-57 wheels would work, but after that I'm not sure when GM switched to the hubcaps that were held on differently. Just trying to figure out what to search for...would 58-59 steel wheels be the same? 1960-on? I don't want two-piece wheels with the retaining ring.

I believe that is the 1LE brakes. There also my be some caprice/impala rotors that will work. I looked at them while I was doing a tall spindle conversion on a chevelle. Seems like it was non ss impalas 92 or 3. Jay
