Pull Strap Covers
Any good ways to keep them from breaking? My dad likes to pull on the strap to hoist himself into my truck, and when he does this it usually pops the pull strap caps off and breaks the tabs. It seems like the strap itself rotates up and down too much, regardless of how tight I tighten them. There has to be an easy trick to combat this. Thanks!

Re: Pull Strap Covers
LMC sells reinforcement caps for the strap, which might help popping the cap off. Also maybe have a nice talk with your dad.

Re: Pull Strap Covers
I've been through this same problem, and the reinforcement caps don't do much good. If you want to keep the pull straps on the doors then you need to tell EVERYONE that gets in the truck to pull the door or hoist themselves into the cab by using the armrest. After replacing my strap covers on the passenger door twice, I bought the brushed aluminum panels that don't have the pull strap bolt holes.

Re: Pull Strap Covers
you may be able to drill another hole beside the hole that's already there and put another screw in the strap including the one you already have...that may keep it from sliding up and down so much

Re: Pull Strap Covers
Not pretty, but JC Whitney sells universal pull straps with a metal reinforcement in them which can be modified (cut down, trimmed) to work on a square. The strap will not flex when you pull it - it will be permanently sticking out from the door panel where you bend it. I don't know if the end caps would still stay on with an aggressive door puller, but maybe. I have aftermarket end caps on my doors (Dorman) and they don't snap in too securely, so I added some double sided tape in the mounting holes to secure the caps a little better. So far, they are staying on.

Re: Pull Strap Covers
If you go the JC Whitney route, make sure you get the longer of the two lengths they offer. I thought the lengths stated were "hole to hole" lengths, but they are overall length, so I got the short ones by mistake on my first purchase.
