suburban -vs- pickup floor ??
I found a very rusty sub... I have a couple rust free pu cabs with bad roofs...
thinking of doing a few cuts and making the sub rust free.... any pics of a sub floor behind the seat so I can compare to a pickup? are the floor braces (rear) in the same spot? this wouldn't have to be a factory fit.. just wondering if it would be relatively simple- cut the 2 w/s posts, across the rear floor, weld, and rust free!

Re: suburban -vs- pickup floor ??
I can see about getting you a pic tomorrow. As far as I can remember the floors are the same until about the rear of the seat. I do know that the rear 'cab' mounts are different on the Burbs. Not sure about the under floor bracing.

Re: suburban -vs- pickup floor ??
the under floor bracing is different at the back end, needs a bit of fabricating and you have to fabricate the rear cab supports. panels are a little different again as the floor doesn't extend as far back as the suburban body. everything appears to be in the same place as they all join in in the rear holes at the back end of the inner rocker

Re: suburban -vs- pickup floor ??
thanks guys.
in your opinion is this pretty much doable? I have some fab skills I am thinking of splicing on the roof posts, leaving the doors on , shutting them on the latches, line the rockers up,and then fixing the floor across the cab... mainly hoping that the rear cabmounts are in at least the same spot to make it easier to bolt up and line up.

Re: suburban -vs- pickup floor ??
..also I know this has been put up a million times before...
83 sub 4x4 frame.... either shorten the sub frame 14.5 inches and mount the sub body with a 3 inch body lift, or switch all the crossmembers (4X4) and suspension to the 2wd 64 sub frame? in your opinion ...1 more work than the other? or about the same? end result I would like some pretty big tires/lift, and am hoping to use a c60 front clip/running boards, and maybe grafting some c60 front wheelwells to the rear to balance things out... like these, 'cept not quite so big on the tires...

Re: suburban -vs- pickup floor ??
By rondavid at 2011-02-15 bottom "a" is for a panel and the top "a" is for suburban. the panel support is higher than the suburban support which is a little higher than the p/u cab at that spot. the mounts are all in the same place. pickup roofs are not a high as suburban roofs so there is fabrication to be done to get them to the same level. where are your problems with your roof.. I may be able to help there ron |

Re: suburban -vs- pickup floor ??
the pickup.. just has a pole mark in the roof, and a bad title... so I am looking for something good to do with the rust free bottom 1/2...
looks like the sub deal might have fallen through anyway.... we'll see what the week brings. thanks for the pics and link.
