Re: Another 1991 needles and tach cluster

It seems to be right on compared to others I've seen for sale. Your paying for how hard they are to find I guess. In the 2 or so years I've been watching for them in junk yards, on ebay, and a couple boards I've only seen 6 or 7. Never two this close to each other. If you want the ease of adding needles into a pre-1992 truck this is it. No major rewiring.

Are these quite rare? I found one in the junkyard today and grabbed it. I couldn't find the listing you posted, but the one I found looks like this:

Are you sure the one you found was from a '91? The '91 needle cluster is going to be more rare than any other because the change from moonies to needles was a mid-year change. My '91 is a moonie cluster. The '91 needle cluster is so popular because it is a direct swap into the '88-'91 trucks with moonies without any other work required. A '92-'94 needle cluster can be made to work, but with more effort.

Does it have a metal back or a circuit board? If it's metal than yes it's the rare one.

Scots62 - If you don't find a cluster I think I have a couple that I would sell you.

Re: Another 1991 needles and tach cluster

I'm pretty sure it is a plastic circuit board. I pulled the cluster out of a Suburban.

Plastic isn't the rare one.

What is different that I would need to modify to work? I've swapped lots of S10 clusters and have repopulated connectors and rewired quite a bit...

Plus that style started in 92 for the suburban..no way it could be a 91.
